Welcome back to TD School. By now, you should have a pretty good idea about the format, size, and budget of your event. You should have a sanctioning tier in mind, a date picked out, and the venue confirmed. Now it's time to schedule your tournament and fill out the PDGA sanctioning agreement. Let's go through the process step by step. The first thing we'll need to do is to submit the tournament's date, location and proposed tier to your area's PDGA Coordinator. This is crucial to ensure that events in your state, region, province or country don't conflict with each other. It gives your event the best chance of filling and running smoothly. If you're unsure about who your coordinator is or how to contact them, visit the PDGA website and use the contact page by choosing your geographic area from the relevant coordinator drop down menu. Tournament directors must meet a few additional requirements before sanctioning an event. You must be a current PDGA member and a certified official through the end of the event. To become a certified official, you need to pass a brief exam that covers material from the PDGA's Official Rules of Disc Golf and Competition Manual. Don't worry, you can take the test as many times as you need until you pass. Once you pass, you'll be prompted to pay a $10 fee for your certification, which lasts for three years. With your PDGA membership and certified official status confirmed and your date and location cleared with your PDGA State Coordinator, you're ready to fill out your sanctioning agreement. Visit the PDGA's website and navigate to the Sanctioning Agreement form. You can find the link in the video description below. Fill in the required information about your event and if needed, request a Certificate of Insurance. Make sure to read the brief Terms and Conditions that you are agreeing to and then hit the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page to proceed to the payment page. The sanctioning fee will vary based on the tier of your event. It can range from $25 for sanctioned leagues up to $100 for A-Tiers. This fee goes towards PDGA services like the TD Helpline and admin for making sure all events are working with each other and set up for success.
