worlds means you know it's the week out of the year where you want to do whatever you can to make your game the best it can possibly be it's still the most important title there is it's the first thing that people say to identify players how many world championship titles they have or if they are a world champion every player knows this is the event this is the one i want to win it's like a legacy as a player you want to strive for as many as you possibly can it's something where nobody can take it away from you it's always had that air of importance that is by far the ultimate goal all the accolades and all the bonuses that go along with winning the world championships have just been magnified for players it's the pinnacle of their career and it can change their trajectory and change their life winning worlds it adds extra pressure to the players extra hype for the spectators the the origins of frisbee you know back in the whammo days and you know being in the rose bowl the pga had been turned over to the players and they needed an outlet to find out who the best player in the world was and so in 1982 they had the first world championships world championships has always been a reunion for our frisbee family these eras continue to transition for me that's what's jumped out at these world championships on the women's side we see elaine king dominate for so many years and then the next era was julianna korver it went on to paige on the men's side and climbo and then you think about what paul macbeth has done to rack up five titles the game just really stepped up from there and then just just kind of see that torch almost officially be passed to our next world champion i think the competition is going to be outstanding we have a 130 mpo over a thousand rated in 2000 i believe there were 19 maybe 20 players rated over a thousand and then we have 70 fpo largest fields in the history of fpo at the world championships we got a golf course out here and we got a pretty wooded course so it's a good complement to each other a lot of challenging halls a...
