2022 PDGA Champions Cup - Paige Pierce R2 Interview
Paige Pierce shares her thoughts on her second-round performance at the 2022 PDGA Champions Cup, where she fought back from a four-over start to even out her score and set herself up for a strong finish. The American disc golfer credits her excitement about playing on the challenging WR Jackson course as a key factor in her turnaround, as well as her desire to "shred that gap" between her scores. Pierce discusses how she tends to excel on the back nine of rounds, and whether this is due to natural advantages or simply being more focused during early morning play. She also reflects on the unique mentality required when no longer chasing after an opponent, instead adopting a "trying to win my card out" approach, which allows her to take control and focus on capturing birdies. With Kristin Tatham leading going into the final round, Pierce is determined to take the lead and capture her card. Watch as Paige Pierce shares her insights and strategies for a successful comeback at the 2022 PDGA Champions Cup.

page you were four over through ten holes yesterday and managed to get back to even how big was that in terms of your mentality going into today's round uh you know it's just more so about me excited to play on this track you know when i finished hole 18 yesterday i was like man i wish we had two rounds today just because more so than my scores that what the round came out to be ratings whatever what place i'm in it was like man i really want to shred that gap like it's so fun to throw through these woods so going to bed waking up everything it was just like excitement to get another crack at the course so it was more so about that and just being excited to to get some birdies now today on the back nine that's where you made your move yet again just like day number one is there coincidence to that or something more to it about the back nine here at wr jackson um maybe i would say i i mean i don't think any certain hole plays stronger to my advantage than or any nine but um i think it may be just that we're playing early in the morning and maybe i'm not fully warmed up into the woods it feels like i'm warmed up but when you got tight gaps to hit you know you need to be fine-tuned so maybe even tomorrow i'll just wake up another 45 minutes early and just get a little bit more warm-up time now historically you've often been the one being chased do you enjoy when the rolls switch and you get to be the chaser is the mentality any different yeah i think i mean the mentality is definitely different for me today both rounds actually i haven't looked at scores until i tap in my last putt so i'm not really thinking about chasing or being chase it's more just uh you know trying to get the box trying to trying to win my card out on that hole pretend it's match play and take the box and then take control so um that'll be the case tomorrow if i do end up holding on for a lead card and you know then it'll just be against kristin who's who is leading so just trying...
