the longest four minutes of the United States disc golf championship come with two holes left to play you take your putter out of the basket on hole 16 a winter cold then head south on University Lake Road where one of the most infamous holes in disc golf awaits it may only be 2/10 of a mile but the walk can feel like an eternity or at least just awash in a sea of people it lends plenty of time to think about the joys or heartbreak that can unfold according to new course designer Andrew dove all the extra mental games were just a happy accident that developed over this PGA majors 21 years the walk was definitely a happy accident that developed over the years there used to be a hole that actually played essentially that stretch of the walk the hole 17 used to look a lot different playing as a flat shot essentially over that walk and the hay bales were sideways they built the wetlands area and that all went away but when that happened that walk essentially led up the hill and that hole was recreated into the downhill islands you see now now that journey is just another part of u.s. DGC lore but is the Guardian at the end of that walk really is daunting as it's been built up to be it depends on who you ask you look at the rest of the course it's really tough to get birdies that hole isn't even a hole yet you give yourself getting a birdie on even though it's under 300 feet you try to go out there and take a par and you're picking up strokes on the most the field that's that's this hole you know yeah I'm gonna do my best to play it safe this time but it's it's a pressure cooker people have to ruin people before none of that talk matters when it all comes down to Saturday and someone can change their disc golf destiny just one shot I think obviously hole 17 can be a round wrecker and I just try to kind of keep my head down walk at a brisk pace get up there and do my job so maybe some competitors will need those four minutes or some will just be able to see it as a regular day at...
