hello everyone and welcome to the 2021 memorial championship presented by disc craft we're out here at the fountain hills disc golf course with our fpo lead card ready to bring you the action and again coming back to the booth jamie spencer jamie this time we're remote from the other side of the country but thank you for joining thank you for having me again well we're here with valerie mandejano and she was your leader after round one she shot the four under she's got a three-stroke advantage and she's safe on hole one let's see what haley king can do oh that high right side jamie uh how nerve-wracking is it to tee off on this first hole it is really nerve-racking because a lot of times you've had some practice out in the soccer field but then there's down time in between that so it almost feels like this is your first drive for the day and you just have about a 300 foot water carry to make it happen yep no pressure all right so maybe the water carry isn't 300 feet but the water's the entire way and nonetheless it's right there erica pulling that over to the right here's her approach what do you feel like is your strategy i know those are the nerves you just mentioned but what's your strategy when coming out to hole one uh just to try to play safe don't throw anything too skippy that could skip down into the water if you have something a little stable and then trying to get the upshot within the circle tap it in hopefully not putting right at water would be ideal but in this situation you've got three corners of water so and valerie pitching it right up next to the basket i feel like there's nothing wrong with a par here no absolutely not no all right unless you're hayley king no fear or yeah walking away with all your plastic and a par is perfect very very wise words there here's erica for her par nice and we're blessed the fountain is going off must be the top of the hour goes off for anywhere from eight to ten minutes i think just about every hour so pretty solid opening start here we see a birdie a couple pars and like you said everybody still has...
