Lithuania World Team Disc Golf Championships being hosted right here in Villness. I'm so excited for everything that's taking place here. Countries represented, 29 of them in fact, all here, over 400 competitors. We're going to take in all the action and we're going to get part of the city. Let's go check it out. >> [music] >> Heat. We are in in for a heck of a week at this golf sir. >> It's going to be awesome. This is going to be an awesome celebration of companionship, fellowship, the love of the game, all these countries coming together in one special place for an awesome event to share what we all love together. Disc golf. It's going to be awesome. >> I'm Darius Gitus, member of LOC course designer for both courses. >> My name is Craig Schithther. I'm the WIFT BIS Golf Committee chair and international director for the PDGA and I am the technical director for the WIFT world team disc golf championships for 2026. >> Today we are in Villness and today is a special day for our city and for local disc golf. We are starting world's teams disc golf championship. So that's the sixth edition which finally came to VNUS 2026. They are more than excited to start the championships. >> So 10 years ago in Vancouver, we started the team worlds as an international event which was country versus country which is very different to most disc golf which is um player versus player. Um, today 10 years later, it's more the difference between playing for other people than playing for yourself brings a really different aspect to the tournament. And using match play and as well as a team format where uh it's the team's results, not the individual results. Uh brings a very different attitude to the event and a different um atmosphere to the way the players uh connect with their own um country uh teammates, but also how they connect and spend time and engage with with and get to know players from all over the world.
