Does the PDGA have a President's Cup problem? Gambling lines go missing for the first major of the year. Paul turns all the heads with his round one performance. And even more, this weekend disc golf. Welcome back all you disgenerates. Swiss Cheese here. Yes, the one with all the holes in his game, but more importantly, I'm just one half of the disc golf world. The not yet cancelled nephew and uncle disc golf YouTube channel covering the professional disc golf game and not that 100 men vers gorilla debate. And you guys are watching this week in disc golf where I cover all things disc golf from the past week. Major week action opened up with the President's Cup return to the US. The newly acquired PDGA event in all honesty came and went and it certainly wasn't due to the action despite it being a crime to pit the European talent against the US on a golf track. The stars brought it with highlight throwins, big putts, close action, and competitive play. Yet, there was more fanfare surrounding on why the event wasn't free on YouTube or only for pro DGN subscribers than the actual competition. Why that's bad news for the PDGA is the fact that they now own the rights to this event, which seems to have already lost some of its luster with the change and without European Open attached, little to no incentive for the people to upgrade to the Pro subscription, losing views and ultimately leading to an apathetic fan base, which the PDGA needs to begin to address now. because I'm not too sure banking on the bright European disc golf future is enough to save what feels like nothing more than a glorified mid-season all-star showcase. That's the problem the pro disc golf association now has to navigate with their ownership of this showcase. This is bigger than the US record or the thought of competition breeds success here or where it's broadcast for that matter. Though you guys know me by now, I can't argue that if on YouTube views and engagement would not improve things. that and you guys know I won't shy away from saying its attachment to Champions Cup here in the US certainly doesn't help it either. Add that with this acquisition also brought the loss of bigname sponsors that were attached to the UC...
