Meet Wilbur Wallace, PDGA number 6583, and learn why he's vying for your vote in the 2024 PDGA board of directors elections. With over four decades of experience in the game, Wilbur is no stranger to frisbee golf. Born and raised in Poria, Illinois, the "home of Ledgestone," Wilbur began playing as a child and fell in love with the game at an early age. He shares his story of how he went from being terrible to getting better, eventually becoming passionate about running tournaments and joining the PDGA. Joining forces with his father, who also joined the PDGA, they started running tournaments together and expanded their family's involvement in the sport.

vying for your vote in the 2024 PDGA board of directors elections the one and only Wilbur Wallace Wilbur is PDGA number 6583 he's one of a couple of board members actually running for reelection during this particular election cycle uh Wilbur welcome you've obviously been around the game a long time with that four-digit PDGA number give me a a quick synopsis of of yourself where are you from how long you've been around the game uh grew up born and raised in Poria Illinois home of the famous ledgestone now uh that's where I started playing first time I threw at baskets I've been playing frisbee like I don't know since the late 60s early 70s when I was seven 8 n 10 years old something like that uh first time I threw a baskets was 1986 at Bradley Park uh fell in love with the game somewhere in that first round I knew it's something I was going to be doing for the rest of my life just because it was so much fun and I was terrible when I played but it I knew it was something that was just I can get better at this and it was it was fun um started man I played for like two years just with wh frisbee so then I finally some guy went hey come here what's he doing uh selling me disc out of his trunk is what he was doing uh bought a couple of go golf disc started getting a little better finally started playing leagues and tournaments um got the itch to run tournaments and that's what set me on the direction to go with the PDGA I actually joined the pdj so I could run tournaments I could always pay my $10 fee I didn't play a lot of tournaments so I could pay the $10 fee and uh and and play if I wanted to but to run them I had to be a member uh so me and my father we decided that we were going to kind of team up since I got him playing a little bit walking with me and stuff and he's really or organized so uh we both got pdj numbers he sent his in two days before me so he's three numbers lower than me um but yeah we started running tournaments together brought...
