Meet James Kumi, a Canadian disc golfer and senior lawyer running for a seat on the PDGA Board of Directors in 2024. the PDGA welcomes James Kumi PDGA number 12627 James is running for your vote for the 2024 PDGA board of directors elections which start on July 1st James welcome why don't you start by telling us just a little bit about yourself help us get our bearings hey Grant thanks for having me on I really appreciate everything that you're doing and and uh yeah feeling a little bit nervous today but um started disc golf roughly about 6 years ago probably most like everybody else my brother-in-law introduced me to the game and really enjoyed the sport um it's brought so many benefits and different aspects of my life but started to find ways even then to be like wow this is such an amazing thing how can I give back and I guess that's where the journey is today you know last year I was a candidate on the ballot and you know was very thankful for the support uh from the voters um and honestly surprised because you know being a newer player to the game definitely not a lot of reach or exposure but certainly realize the opportunity of what it means to be able to sort of give back and um you know that's sort of where the Journey's been I guess along the way you know played in played in 29 different countries I think played in pdj sanction events in five or six countries now um but you know just mostly the friends and experiences along the way briefly what what's your occupation and where are you coming to us today from I'm coming from Calgary Canada and my occupation is senior lawyer senior legal counsel uh currently working for a global software company well let's dive into it you're here today with us for a reason and that is you want to be a member of the PDGA board of directors uh there is clearly going to be a motivational factor for every unique candidate as to why they want to take on this responsibility and this role for for you I want to dive into what that is what issues uh or priorities do you have that you intend to Champion should you be elected to the board that's a great question diving right in I think the two things and continuing to further sort of the aims of what the...
