Disc Golf Pro Tour to Become the Official Pro Tour of the PDGA

The Disc Golf Pro Tour is set to become the official pro tour of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), marking a significant sea change for the sport. the pga national tour started in 2003. the national tour was the original springboard for the professional side of the game the initial goal of the national tour actually was to highlight the events but not just the events themselves also the players that came to compete in them the pro tour was also born out of that inspiration and a desire to take things to the next level at the onset of the pandemic the whole world seemed to shut down we halted all sanctioning of events and really what we were focused on was making sure that everybody was as healthy and safe as possible dgpt took it upon themselves and and worked alongside with us to make sure that they were providing a safe environment for these touring professionals it was a critical moment in the history of our sport and our great partnership with the disc golf pro tour is what you know kept disc golf afloat this partnership signals the sea change for the sport of disc golf we are combining to elevate the sport to a new level professionally the dgpt will now be trusted to run the elite series tour the agreement to have the national tour pulled into the disc golf pro tour it ties the disc golf pro tour to the pdga in a more meaningful way we felt it was a perfect opportunity to collaborate and to work with both organizations to further grow the pro side of the sport with bgpt handling the elite series now the pdga can allocate more resources and spend more time focusing on some of our core initiatives specifically we want to put more time and effort and energy and resources into the development and continuation of our pdga-owned major events to include the four world championship events we'll still be involved in the pro side of the sport but we will work alongside of dgpt this merger of the national tour and the disc golf pro tour into one even better entity that is a vision that we share with the pdga and a lot of fans spectators players also share the wind is you know in our sails to like move forward into uncharted territory
