thank you hello everyone and welcome to the 2023 PDGA United States amateur disc golf championships this is the first amateur PDGA major of the Year azroom production is bringing you this coverage here for the PDGA on their Channel excited to see some young breakout stars of the future here Conrad oh yes definitely when you look at the roster you see these high rated amateurs uh just think of them as beginning Pros yeah taking a look at our actual feature card Ryan Mulder Gavin Cunningham Jaden watkinson and waden sides here on this feature group and all of these are high 900 rated amateurs here you see the rest of the high ranking field here as we start off round one here at the toboggan course I'm excited to be here yeah definitely an iconic Course once it stands out and it starts right away on hole one of par 3 477 foot downhill left to right turning shot angle control is a must on this particular opening drive here as your disc will have a tendency to want to fight out to the left hand side if you're going to turn over out four hands can get there as well but it is a bit of a crush to ask for 477 right off the bat believe lead us off from St John Indiana Ryan Mulder ready to feel old Conrad go ahead and tell me Ryan Mulder is 15 years old oh my gosh I know he was out here with his dad his dad is uh caddying and spotting for him and I guess driving around as well yeah and he's electing for the turnover route which is a pretty common play here and he's actually gone past the PIN by quite a bit there yeah it's gonna have quite a comeback if he's trying to get that birdie Cunningham Gavin Cunningham part of the tournament team for Lone Star this throws exclusively all Lone Star plastic they might have been a mid-range in his hand there he was trying to get that to turn over but just the complexity of throwing downhill into this open uh Fairway with just wind that you can't feel off the tee it's very tricky shot very much so Jade watkinson coming from New Zealand took us 16 hours worth of actual air travel time 13-hour flight to...
