foreign pool I am the event director for championship week here at Winthrop University we ran the World Championships here in 1997. really we're kind of fascinated with the idea of having a major that didn't bounce around from City to city state to state we wanted a chance to sort of learn some things and get better at some things so in 98 we began planning a second major for disc golf we landed on the United States Disc Golf Championship we ran the first one in 1999 and we've been here learning and hopefully improving ever since the course has changed a lot for a number of reasons one it's to keep up with advancements in this technology and just the skill level it needs to be challenging for the very best players in the world at that time it also needs to make sense from a media standpoint last year we built Championship Village right in the middle of the course and in two years we now have 30 plus vendors there's five food trucks there's a 40 by 80 fan Hospitality Pavilion there's a stage there's a 12 by 21 foot video screen there's a nine hole short like pigeon putt course so this concept of kind of Eat Shop play for fans you come right into Championship Village your center of the course you can tell all the sights and sounds I mean from a fan standpoint it has everything that you need hi my name is Sarah Nicholson and I'm the tournament director for the third Team Championship throw Peak is a non-profit that I started to give more women involved in the game of disc golf and to raise money for Women's Health initiatives specifically breast cancer through the pandemic a lot of the events were canceled so we took it over and they ran the Women's National Championship that year and we thought man this is great we need to keep doing this so throw Pete came in we said we want to be involved we want to sponsor it let's make it the third pink championship we're getting women out we're getting them active and healthy and you know giving them the joy and the camaraderie of disc golf which is good for mental health and physical health and then we're raising money for a charity that makes a difference in...
