foreign I am the tournament director for the 2022 United States women's disc golf championships 2016 I was the tournament director for the PDGA amateur and Junior World Championships Brian Graham asked if I'd be interested in putting in a major bid for another event this one's sort of called out to me last year in California and those big numbers it was super encouraging I saw this trend right it goes from 2019 to 2021 you saw this big leap you're seeing PJ membership go up you're seeing huge numbers being put up on recorded post-produced coverage live coverage and you're starting to see this momentum build right you're seeing this momentum in disc golf and you're seeing this momentum within disc golf specifically in the women's game the biggest I think fpo field ever at a sanctioned event never ever has there been such a donkey field in part it's the counterpart to the U.S dgc in Rock Hill right but it's not you want to provide that competitive platform for the fpo division you want to give them their Rock Hill but it's also a celebration of in my opinion women in disc golf it's this balance of sort of running this event that's focusing on women regardless of age and skill level but also focusing on female play at its highest level and that part's really interesting and I'll be really interested to see where the future of this event grows female disc golf is still relatively small and and I think there's something special about this because they're not playing second fiddle this week it's them tonight when we got to announce the largest amount of added cash to this event beating last year's record they're not splitting that with mpo this week or the other male Pro divisions for them this week it's a major and it's the only major exclusively for women and kind of hit me tonight I've been doing it for them I mean you know it but you finally get into the theater you can feel the energy of how excited all these girls and women were to be together at the largest event in its history
