today we want to take a moment to recognize and honor one of the sport's most valued tournament directors and perennial volunteers mr bill old man wallace to provide a bit more detail about this extraordinary man i want to read an excerpt that was published on the pdj website in december of 2019 this was written by matt gregoire the disc golf world lost a dedicated husband father grandfather great grandfather volunteer and friend as bill old man wallace pdga 6580 passed away peacefully at his home in illinois yesterday after a battle with cancer bill was 73 years old whenever you spoke with him even if you just met you were family this is the wallace family and this is mom so we want to present you all with a plaque and just so you know we will hang a permanent version of this plaque right here and this will become the bill old man wallace bench i just want to say on behalf of the pdga thanks to you and bill for everything you've done seriously the backbone of the uswdgc are these folks right here they've just been like family just to us and i hope that this is as special to you as it is to us thanks for being here everybody you
