2021 USDGC/TPWDGC - Round 1 Recap

it's just special out here uh you step on the whole one and it's just kind of holy ground so when everybody's here you see all your friends from all across the country really all across the world especially with you know this year people are coming back after some covid stuff and we're seeing some of those european players and some of the canadians coming down so it's just a special place day one in the books the throw pink women's disc golf championship and the 2021 united states disc golf championship here at winthrop arena we started things off in style i'm grant zellner recapping the action the women teed off first competing for the throw pink women's disc golf championship and after one lap around the winthrop arena several find themselves with work to do among those hopefuls katrina allen and paige shu both double digits back after just 18 holes sarah hokum though her sidearm served her well she'll be on the lead card tomorrow also heather young 100 circle one putting today seats her in second place tied with valerie mondajano in first though with a five-stroke lead it's paige pierce a bogey at the first and then eight under par the usdgc started off in style a host of players sit well within striking distance but at the end of day one joel freeman despite a double bogey at the last sits in solo fourth at eight down greg barsby thrilled the crowd and admittedly himself with a bogey free nine under par effort he's third terry roethlisberger went eight under through his opening nine holes and finds himself a tied for first with none other than her former us dgc champion nate sexton who showed absolutely no rust and carded no bogeys forecast says rain but the heat will only rise as the 2021 united states disc golf championship moves to day two and more usdgc coverage will be coming your way you
