now this is hayden henry from the pga wrapping up an exciting finish to the 2021 united states women's disc golf championship coming into sunday there were a number of tight battles from fj12 all the way through fpo we started this morning with julianna korver as she took a one stroke lead into the finale of fp40 22 years ago corver won this very same tournament with the field of 21 competitors this weekend 263 women from across the country competed for a major championship we caught up with korver after a win to discuss her golf this weekend and what that meant to her i i didn't know i had more major titles in me i mean i know this is age protected but you know i think the last major that i attended was probably in 2006. you know i think i felt a little bit of magic out here this weekend it it felt bigger than and maybe it's just because i've been gone for so long but but this felt bigger than um kind of than i was expecting my uh game plan was to throw confidently my my little mantra there is throw it like you mean it uh don't fluff it and i i stayed out of trouble i didn't necessarily get a lot of birdies but i didn't get into trouble and then towards the end i switched it a little bit and i started playing defense instead of offense i had enough cushion that i could do that and just coast in for the win in the fpo division coming in today paige pierce held a two-stroke lead over hayley king with a hot start from pierce it was all paige from there as she cruised her 16th major title we caught up with paige on the 18th green to see what she had to say oh my god i couldn't feel better couldn't feel better the putts the putt and the mental game has been holding me back for a few tournaments now so this really puts a statement on i'm capable of anything 100 inside the circle no doubts in my mind the basket looked huge this weekend i got to keep that rolling forward congrats to juliana for winning this this year as well she put her stamp on the masters title this week so that was awesome...
