2021 Twin Cities PDGA Women's Global Event

The 2021 Twin Cities PDGA Women's Global Event is a landmark tournament that celebrates women's disc golf and breaks down barriers for female players. Michelle, Jennifer, Lindsay, and many others share their excitement and experiences at the event, which has grown from just 38 participants three years ago to a record-breaking 91 ladies competing today. The event is significant not only for its large turnout but also for providing opportunities for women in disc golf. Many attendees, including newcomers like Michelle, who's been playing for two to three years, reflect on their journey and the impact of female players filling the women's division spots. With a growing community and increasing recognition, Jennifer's comments - sparked by an initial comment about the need for more women's disc golf events - have ignited a movement, inspiring others to take up the sport and paving the way for future generations of female players.

My name is Michelle. My favorite disc is the destroyer. My name is Jennifer. My favorite disc is probably a star turn. my name is Lindsay and my favorite disc to throw is this blue sapphire. My first name is Jennifer. My favorite disc is a buzz. I'm so pumped to be here today. I played a ton of tournaments and some have had two ladies and some ton of tournaments and some have had two ladies and some have had 20. Never have I played in the tournament with ninety ladies. I love that there's like an all women's event too, and then that there's a good turnout for the all women's event. I love the energy that this event is bringing one of the most exciting things about today is the fact that there's going to be so many new female players. I know that this is a lot of ladies' first tournament, so we're all lot of ladies' first tournament, so we're all coming out here for you know to do it together and that's what's pretty cool. I'm excited because this is my first tournament. There's just never been an event like this, that's been this big for women and like the last few years like I remember like my first six wins, I was the only person in the tournament. It just started off of a comment. You know we just need more Women's Disc Golf and lit a fire. 3 years ago was the first all women's Global. There's thirty-eight 3 years ago and today. The last count was last night at Ninety-one. They're giving opportunities to ladies and I feel like that shows people that you know it can happen. I've been golfing for two to 3 years and I usually just go with like a whole bunch of guys. I was literally the only woman when I first started playing, there was a lot of guys that you know kind of do the double triple take when they see me alone. They're like, Where's your group? I'm like Oh, it's just me. I'm a single, would you mind if I play through? And they're like... Now women are filling the women's division spots. I hope that women expect to see more women out there. Next year, I feel like the numbers will continue to just go up. Disc golf is a community...
