welcome to the 2021 south florida open what better way to spend the chilly days of december or early january than in a tropical climate grant zellner alongside jennifer allen bringing you round one coverage from the fort lauderdale area there it is first of all jennifer how's your holiday season going it's going great so far we're pretty warm here in arizona ourselves i don't think it's quite as warm as florida but we're doing good greg barsby thomas gilbert silas schultz and brandon bostwick here in this round brought to you by tri fly by the way we're at the jet stream disc golf course at snyder park as you can see just across the street literally from the fort lauderdale international airport poll number one a 450 foot par four a sharp dog leg right uh you'll see right here just a a very sort of narrow gap and then it opens back up again so probably something of a placement shot off the tee i'm thinking yeah this course looks very tight a lot of tight uh drives on this course so we get started uh right in the theme of things i like it sometimes when courses just get you right into it quickly greg barsby's got the box off the tee such a great forehand thrower puts it right in the middle right where he needs to go greg's an excellent sort of placement style player and i think that'll work to his advantage today thomas maybe a little bit more of a power player and certainly has a long forehand maybe he got a little more of a skip than he wanted he kind of missed on the correct side there uh he should actually have something of a lane up to the green area here's silas schultz going backhand so probably looking at a placement this is a lot tighter than i expected i've actually never played in florida though so this is pretty nice to watch got the good kick off the palm fronds there here's brandon bostwick it's like a great shot right down the middle something really interesting about brandon uh you may have noticed just now he threw right-handed backhand keep that in mind for future reference as silas hark's one switched it up yeah he goes lefty forehand there for his upshot and ends up about an...
