this is matt rothstein for the pdga day two of the santa cruz masters cup is in the books and like the waves breaking in nearby monterey bay the bad breaks are waiting around every corner here on the treacherous de la viega grounds kevin jones made the most of his moving day shooting the hot round 13 under despite carting three bogeys we caught up with jones after his round overall my putting was what was really keeping me in there today i'm definitely throwing the disc really good because yesterday i had given myself plenty chances all over the course and i missed three inside the circle putts this day i don't believe i missed any inside the circle so i corrected that mistake and got one stroke every hole is birdiable every hole is really challenging as well and dangerous so you've got to be on your toes but you also you just can't yeah you can't give up adam hammes continued his hot play taking his first bogey after 40 holes of competition he'll be looking to capture his first elite series win tomorrow feeling good you know came into the round calm and cool um uh started out just how i wanted nice and hot um getting a whole one getting old two is really nice uh getting old two is is a pretty good confidence boost going into the rest of the holes yeah feeling good i put up another round tied with kev and we're both five clear of a third at the moment so it'll be fun day tomorrow i mean i'll be in in the moment thing tomorrow um i'll do what i have to do tomorrow to uh you know try to take it down uh just you know just stay smooth stay calm and you know just pedal to the metal tomorrow it'll be a two-horse race as jones and hammers enter the final six clear of the field in fpo paige pierce extended her lead by turning in an even par while cardmates katrina allen juliana korver and hayley king fell off the pace she got off to another slow start but once again managed to turn things around bogey's early bogeys are never good and it's a long round and that's that's the benefit of playing at a 24-hole course where you know you have plenty of...
