what's up everybody and welcome to another episode of down the fairway in today's episode of down the fairway I'm going to be giving you my best tips on how to putt better in headwind situations now the first thing that I see people do in headwinds that I disapprove of is firing it as hard as they can thinking that they can overpower this headland I've learned from experience that this for sure could give you some more confidence but in the long run it's actually going to hurt you more than it's going to help you I've noticed after some time of touring and playing that might better windy putting rounds I wasn't trying to overpower it I was just sticking to my regular stroke and really not changing anything but the angle that I release it on to match that so that the wind couldn't take my putt and do what it wanted with it and this has helped me in my career my suggestion to you is keep your normal putting speed don't change anything focus more on your angle control more than your speed of that putt if you can get that angle precise that head one can actually help you more than it can hurt you I'm talking about your normal 10 to 15 miles an hour my first two putts there were the speed that I actually wanted I didn't change anything about my putt I just made sure that my angle was correct and that last putt I actually did the same angle as my first two putts but I tried to overpower it and of course that's not a good idea as you could tell the wind lifted it two to three inches and I ended up missing that putt because of it I see this mistake with even tappets people walking up and then throwing it extremely hard into the basket because they're afraid but the wind is going to do something to their putt and they become a little bit inconsistent even through 10 to 15 feet now this is the most important spot not to fire it in as hard as you can and the reason why is the shorter the distance the harder you throw it obviously that's when you bring spit outs more into the equation slow down focus on your angles don't try to overpower...
