2025 New Zealand Open | FPO RD1 B9 | Handley, Weatherman, Donnecke, Choceck
Watch as FPO competitors face off at the 2025 New Zealand Open in the beautiful ARA Orchard, a challenging course that will put their skills to the test. Tour director Henry Pearson and five-time world champion Juliana Kvernas provide expert analysis of Round 1, focusing on holes B9 to 16. The back nine offers a unique landscape, with players facing more open fairways and less tree cover than earlier parts of the course. As the wind picks up, obstacles like out-of-bounds areas and sloping terrain become increasingly relevant. The tour team highlights Sophia Dicola's promising position on Hole 10, which requires precision to navigate through a dense area. They also discuss the importance of line selection, particularly for players choosing between the left-hand side route or a shorter right-hand approach. With expert commentary from Henry Pearson and Juliana Kvernas, this video offers valuable insights into the strategies and techniques employed by top disc golfers in the back nine of Round 1 at the New Zealand Open.

welcome back to this round one fpo coverage here on go thr of the third event on the T and under 2025 season we're at the New Zealand disc golf open at the beautiful ARA Orchard here in the heart of West Orland at the top of New Zealand I'm Henry Pearson tour director of the tour D and I'm joined by five-time world champion Juliana kver Juliana we had a great first L we saw the wind start to pick up at the tail end of the front line what are we going to be looking at for our back nine as our competitors scale this beautiful wship course well the first couple holes the back nine actually are quite a bit different than the rest of the course in that they're not underneath all of those trees so we'll get to see the players really aired out on this next hole slightly slow start for some of our competitors here on our FID card but we're seeing the form start to pick up in that latter half of the front line and we turn to Hall number 10 this is part 4 560 ft and it is much harder than it appears the because of the undulations where you land on your first shot it's pretty much blind to the basket and this basket is on a very sloped ground there is out of bounds both right and left and with a wind that can come into play okay counted as Sophia donica leads us off here on the back nine of round one and that looks like it's going to be in a fantastic position if it scaves away from those bushes she might have to navigate those with a Nick shot just a touch yeah it's it's actually better to be farther left or to be short right while in choosing the left route it would take a seriously Mammoth Drive to follow Holland's line and find the evental left hand OB so she's in a great position over there on the left hand side likewise this one's shaping up pretty nicely so we've seen OB play a bit of a factor in a front nine here at the the r Orchard and I think increasingly so we'll see all OB come into play in the back line particularly over this first sort of three holes...
