2021 Lone Star Classic | RD2 F9 | Orum, Ford, O'Reilly, Williams | MPO1 | GKPro Disc Golf
The 2021 Lone Star Classic features an all-star lineup of disc golfers, including MPO pros Mario Orum, Ford, O'Reilly, and Williams. At a unique backyard course 45 minutes west of Austin, they face challenges such as fountains, hills, rocks, and blind shots amidst abundant cedar trees and exposed limestone. The event marks a departure from the previous day's round at the Met Center, showcasing each player's skill in handling these varied terrain conditions. The group includes Mario Orum, who took second place at the 2005 World Championships; Bradley Williams, who turned pro just one year after finishing high school; and Connor O'Reilly, an Austin native on his rookie season on tour. The discussion highlights Mario's technique, particularly his footwork, influenced by Chris Dickerson's consistent pace. Meanwhile, Connor showcases his unique playing style as a tall player with a distinctive throwing motion that involves leaning into the shot and leading with the hips.
