welcome everyone to the des moines challenge we are here with the disc golf pro tour one of the elite series events out at pickard park in indianola iowa just south of des moines i'm sarah holcomb here with julianna korver to call the action on the first round today we're going to be watching kona panas holly finley kristen tatar and missy gannon kristen is coming off of a win last weekend and she is undefeated in europe this year kona had a great start to the season and both holly and missy are playing very consistently so far this season here we are hole one this is a 705 foot par 4. this hole is surrounded by ob on all sides the two obvious choices are through this gap or a hyzer around the right side there is a slope on the green from right to left so the ob on the right comes into play quicker than you might think the second shot just has to get past this bushy tree on the right the basket is tucked behind it but it is not that wide the tree is not that wide so you can attack it from most angles the slope of the green it slopes up in the back and a little bit off to the right hand side there is ob inside that fence so it does come into play on a long shot kona up first choosing destroyer safely coming clay right in the middle of the fairway that's a very good shot next on the pad from verona wisconsin holly finley holly going with her katana also around that outside lane that's nice edge control with a slightly less overstable disc estonia kristin so christian choosing the same route going with the rive or the revay i'm not exactly sure how to say that maybe some uh people can give us some pronunciation on that disc a newer disk in the lineup i believe notice how long the shadows are on the course we started our round yesterday very late in the evening due to rain delays and lightning delays earlier in the day missy with a zeus yeah it's been kind of a waiting game all day we weren't sure if we were going to play and they were saying well we're probably not going to play because this huge storm...
