Theo Pozzy On Creating The Ratings System & Holding The First Sectioned Event In Portland
Theo Pozzi shares his journey of discovering disc golf in Portland, which began in 1997 when he moved to the city from Dartmouth College. As a co-founder of the college's ultimate frisbee team, Pozzi was initially introduced to the sport, but it wasn't until he discovered local courses with real baskets that he became hooked. He goes on to explain how he played a key role in sanctioning the first Portland PDGA-sanctioned tournament, the Mackyver Open at Milo Mciver, which took place in 2001. Pozzi also discusses the growth of disc golf in Oregon, including the development of the OREGON SERIES and the BEAVER STATE FLING. He joins Todd Andrews, another former PDGA board member, to bring more disc golf events to the region. With Pozzi's involvement in the sport, he played a crucial role in shaping the landscape of Portland's disc golf scene, paving the way for future generations of players and tournament organizers.
