what's up everybody Brian aart here I am at hole number eight of the beautiful black bear course at the iconic Airborne disc golf Preserve in Clear Water Minnesota we are again on hole number eight 400t water carry and today I'm going to help you and walk you through approaching a water carry shot when it comes to choosing a disc for a big water carry shot there's a couple things you have to factor into it number one is it a disc that you absolutely cannot lose if the answer to that is yes don't throw it what you should do though is stock up on some backups that you've tested in the field that fly very similar to your favorite disc I know it's not going to be exactly like it but as long as you know what the disc is capable of that's one that you could be using on shots like this um I actually do it quite a bit at Lake Eureka for the ledstone tournament I have almost a new set of drivers go into my bag because of how many water carries there are but I've practiced with those backups so much that they don't feel like I'm putting a new disc in the back here's a mental tip when it comes to water carries so a lot of people in life tell themselves don't do this don't do this don't do this what that actually does is tell your brain what to do so if you step up to a big water carry shot and you're telling yourself don't throw it in the water your brain is envisioning the disc going in the water instead you really don't want to even think about the water being there you want to think about where the disc is landing what the disc looks like flying through the air fill your head with a lot of positive imagery so much so that the negative result doesn't even come into play on the other hand when it comes to choosing a disc for a water carry if you know stepping up to the teapad that you can easily clear this water take out your favorite disc that you know the best and put it next to the basket that's the best advice I could give if you're feeling confident I'm going Zeus let's see how...
