Day 20: Explore Different Paces Of Putting | Gatekeeper Media's New Year's Resolutions
Gatekeeper Media's new year's resolution series continues with Day 20, where PGA expert explores different paces of putting to help golfers figure out their ideal balance between speed and deliberation. Inspired by faster-paced sports like tennis and basketball, golfer analyzes the difference between 'thinker' and 'non-thinker' approaches to putting, highlighting that neither is superior but both have their benefits. Join PGA expert as they demonstrate two distinct styles of putting: one with a short reset and focus on instinctive shots, and another with a longer analysis period for deliberate thought. By experimenting with these contrasting techniques at Gatekeeper Media's facility, the golfer aims to understand where their natural routine falls in the balance between slow-to-fast, allowing viewers to adapt this approach to their own gameplay, including drives and other shot-making elements.

welcome back to gatekeeper media's new year's resolution it is january 20th and today we're going to talk about thinker versus non-thinker this is a concept that was presented to me in the context of some faster paced sports whether you're a thinker or a non-thinker some people succeed best when they have time to deliberate over a shot and some people do better when they're just kind of seeing and reacting and neither of these is superior to the other but it's useful to figure out which one you are so let's try a couple different styles and pacing of putting to try to explore which of these works best for you for this first set we're going to get a stack of putters and fire them at the basket on a pretty short reset the entire idea here is to not give yourself time to think about mechanics or cues find your target and hit once you've tried that a few times let's slow it down you've got 30 seconds to address your lie let's take most of that be really deliberate think about what the ambient conditions are find your balance and your footing find your aim point think of any mechanics or cues that work for you or you think need to work for you do all of those things and then putt it wind is here let's address that by making an anhyzer and then step back and do a full reset as though this was the first in the set and to me this feels incredibly long because i like to play fast so i'm really trying to consciously think about all the things that can affect a putt here and that's making me go slower it's making me be more deliberate and if this is what works for you make it work that's great what we're trying to do with this drill is figure out where in the balance of slow to fast you fit for your natural routine you win the game when you can figure out what in each situation is best for your your playing pace you can also apply this to drives up shots and any other element of the game you
