all right it is day 14 of gatekeeper media's new year's resolutions today is going to be a really slow and cerebral change of pace we're going to talk about laying up today so we might not make a shot at least not on purpose laying up is a really necessary thing to do sometimes it can be annoying but it's also a way to save strokes and prevent like the really big highs and lows of having a roll away or something like that so go find a dangerous green something that has a big slope or rocks or out of bounds near it so let's assess the situation we're on a pretty severe slope here there are some logs behind the basket it's pretty clear but if i run this putt and it is chain high and it goes down that hill it's going to go a long way so my decision tree kind of looks like i've got a 45 chance of making this putt and a 30 chance that it goes down there and i miss the next putt that's not really good odds i don't think so if i'm going to commit to a layup i want to figure out where i'm landing and odds are i want to land a little bit above the basket so that i can just let it scoot to there figure out how close you need to be in order to guarantee that you're gonna make your next shot if that's two feet you're gonna have to put it real close if it's 15 feet you've got a little more margin for error what kind of spin and speed and angle do you want to put on the disc to have it minimize the chance of rolling or skipping or doing something crazy on the ground because there's nothing more frustrating than committing to a layup but then not executing it properly so since i've already spoiled this is a layup day go through your routine 50 times each time throwing a layup don't even try to make it try to snuggle it up as close to the baskets as you can let me show you what that looks like so i'm assessing this lie i want to land the disc about 10 feet away from the basket flat i'm going to release with a touch of anhyzer a...
