joining us now texan and disc golf hall of famer andy young questions randy hi andy hi zoe welcome to waco we're so honored to have you here for our viewers can you tell everyone i think i'd say your pdga number and how long you've been playing my pdga number is 2094 i joined the pdga in 1982 i have been playing for uh this is my 40th year wow wow did you ever think that you would be right here with a microphone in the press conference for the disc golf pro tour uh no is it exciting to see the absolute explosion growth of disc golf oh my god yes i have been pioneering the sport as i just said for going on 40 years i have been through peaks and valleys small growth spurts some you know 20 15 20 years ago we started to see growth spurts uh the last two years has been unbelievable so yeah i've seen it all wonderful can you share with us um your top couple of probably your favorite or best accomplishments in the sport um well i pioneered started the sport uh in new orleans was moved up to the midwest for a little bit where uh immediately became like regional coordinator and then transferred down to houston texas in the prime of my own career and there was absolutely no place to play at all so i was questing the world title in 1990 i could see it i was going to phoenix but yet i was in a place where there was no place to practice and so not only that but mother nature decided that i was going to become a mom so i had to shift gears completely to grassroots and i started pioneering and starting the sport in houston texas we went from 1989 to having zero courses and today i believe somewhere from in the you know 100 mile radius we probably have close to 100 now i've had a lot of help with that along the way of course but yeah that's one of my proudest accomplishments it's incredible to hear you say houston texas had no courses i think tech i think of texas as one of the states to be considered a hotbed of disc golf and um i guess my question for you is what's your favorite place...
