welcome back disc golf fans to the back nine coverage of round one of the 2021 portland open presented by dynamic discs i'm brian earhart joined here again by nate perkins this is such a beautiful golf course that we're playing and the trees out here are beautiful and mature the grass is lush the birds are chirping the wind is down absolutely beautiful day for disc golf night and we move into this back nine what do you think uh what do you think about this back nine and first off i just love playing disc golf in portland it's one of the premier disc golf cities in the united states we're just 30 minutes from milo mcgiver just 15 minutes from blue lake where the paul ricky playoff went down in 2014. this place has a lot of history stumptown disc golf club shout out to them this back 9 is wicked it starts with this really tricky 815 foot par 4 you need like 4 to 450 off the t 500 if you want to look at this pin here because it drops back down the hill we do have a gap off early gap and uphill so kind of a hyzer flip almost depending on how you attack from the t-pad it's so wide that you maybe can come into it with a little anhyzer but it's the fact that it's uphill makes the shot fly a little bit more stable anyway yeah paul going a little hyzer flip you see that thing drifting out of his hand look at this line wow looks like there might have been a little bit of a headwind i saw the thunderbird bar flags blowing in the background with was the wind picking up out there there was a headwind which makes these little uphill hyzer flips pretty tough scott super powerful shot pure hyzer yeah the reach back isn't necessarily directly back it's kind of away from his body a little bit almost like a little eric oakley but then the last minute he gets a he gets his body around yeah so well yeah he uses his legs really really well in the shot as does joel that is crush he just hammered it past scott and paul in the air he's 70 feet past them and that's actually perfect positioning for what he wants to do...
