What's up, guys? It's Brody. We're back in Austin and we're here with my hundth video. We finally made it and we're going to learn the most important aspect of ultimate frisbee and that's how to spike. So, before you can spike, you must have these two criteria met. One, you first have to make the catch. Two, you have to make sure you're inside the end zone. So, we're now going to talk about the fundamentals of spiking. If you're right-handed, you want to have the disc in your left hand and hold it out far enough away from your body. And I'm going to go with a open fist here. And as I go, as I come down on it, I'm going to let go of my left hand and smack it down with my right hand. So, make sure you have a big wind up. And you really want to focus on hitting the middle of the disc for extreme power. So, now we're going to talk about the three different types of spikes. The first type is any spike where you hit it out of your hand. So, you can either hit underhand, out of hand, with your knee, with your elbow, anything like that. So, you're holding in one hand and you're hitting it with your other hand or body part. The next spike is any spike where you just use one arm. So a throw, a spike, straight down, anything like that. The third type of spike is assisted props. Use your friends, your teammates, celebrities, sharpies, anything like that. And we'll show you what we mean. So the first type of spike I'm going to show you is the one that you're going to hit it out of your hand. Okay? It's one of my favorite spikes to do when I score. So there's three steps to the elbow spike. The first step is having in your left hand and positioning it perfectly underneath your elbow. The second step is dropping the elbow down in the center part of the disc. And then the third step is the attitude. Bring it up, flex, and stare down to your opponent.
