As we get closer to 2026, I’ve been getting a lot of questions concerning next years Texas States event.

I am flattered to formally announce….., 2026 Texas State Disc Golf Championships will be in Victoria Texas !!!

The event will be hosted by Wallace Hall and OneStar Disc Golf !!!

The last 3 years, Wally has been an integral part of the event as a Co-TD. He and his team poured hundreds of hours into making the events what they were. Wally is extremely cable and extremely deserving. I am super excited to be in a position to return the favor and support Wally and the Vic crew in 2026. I’m sure he will be chiming in with more event details soon. Im extremely excited about the potential this event location carries !!!

I’d also like to take this time to look back on the last 3 years of the event in Houston and offer a most sincere thank you to all of the crew, staff, volunteers and the players that made those TXSDGC's possible. I’d also like to give some background and insight into how those events impacted our community, the relationship with HPar and the future of disc golf in our area.

Before I dig in, I want to thank Houston Flying Disc Society for the decades of effort and support. The HFDS club has made it possible for many thousands of players to better enjoy our sport and also paved the way for people like me. I sincerely appreciate all of you, past and present.

The 2023 event was a massive undertaking full of hurdles and curveballs. Remember, Brock Gold didn’t exist in any form other than a “maybe” in my mind. After several emails and calls, we got clearance to scout the property. Scotty Linthicum and I toured the back side of the property first. It was good, but we knew it was not enough. All hope lied with the front side. The park was closed so we had to sneak our E-Bikes under the pipe-rail fence to get access. We knew we had room for a couple holes in this space, but had no clue what we were about to find. We turned the corner that allowed us to see past the “hole 1” area and it was like we’d found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Our shoulders dropped as the anxiety of failure and disappointment fell away. We smiled, as we knew this was the missing link.

More about the challenges, failures and successes through event prep, the biggest being access. Again, if you remember…the park was not yet open to the public. Hpar was extremely skeptical of allowing us access to the main lot and the property. We had to have their staff on-site and only work from 7am-1pm, and only on certain days. Adding to the challenge, this schedule was was fluid and changed on us without notice.

Add in the pressure from DGPT and trying to accommodate their schedule, this was by far the most stressful project I’ve ever taken on. Let me add, the staff volunteers who helped with tee boxes and baskets were super hero level. Their efforts and actions were an INTEGRAL part of the events success.

Fast forward to the 2023 event. Things went pretty great. The top pros came and played, the community got to see what the Pro Tour and its player were about. Although not perfect by any means, we heard good feedback. Brock Gold was officially born.

The event mechanics were a demonstration of community, camaraderie and showed what we could accomplish together. No job was less important than any other, from leadership roles to parking director. Volunteers, staff, clubs and individuals went above and beyond to make this something special for our city. I cannot thank the Houston disc golf community enough for every task.

Course prep, tee box builders, maintenance, UDisc Staff and scorekeepers, parking staff, starters, satellite course TD’s, payout staff and and anyone else who helped in ANY way….. High-fives and hugs !!!!!!

Continuing through 2024 and 2025, you guys and girls did something really special.

Before I pass the torch, I have to say:

What cannot not be overlooked or understated, the event highlighted the professional aspects of our sport and demonstrated the level of love and community support we share. The city took us seriously and we earned their respect. They took notice and the success of that event literally knocked down a wall. As a result, there have been very positive discussions about the potential for a permanent, high-level course in the Gold course footprint.

All of that to say, THANK YOU HOUSTON and TEXAS PLAYERS for ALL 3 YEARS !!!!!

What you folks did has had a far greater impact than you may know. Much more than just a couple weekends of watching players and flying frisbees. Your participation, volunteer hours and support has had a direct impact on the landscape of our sport and opened doors for the future of disc golf in our beloved city.

Thank you again H-Town and TEXAS. Victoria…you’re up!!!!
