At DiscGolf.Buzz, we're always looking for ways to strengthen the connection between players, clubs, volunteers, and course stewards. Today, we're excited to share several major platform enhancements that move us closer to becoming a true hub for the disc golf community.
Introducing the DiscGolf.Buzz Course Directory
One of our biggest additions is the launch of our new Course Directory.
Using data from the Disc Golf API, we've imported course information to create a searchable directory that helps players discover courses and learn more about the places they play. This gives our community a strong foundation of course data while allowing us to build features specifically tailored to the needs of local clubs and volunteers.
But we're not stopping at simply displaying course information.
Building Beyond Existing Data with the DiscGolf.Buzz API
We've also begun expanding our platform through the DiscGolf.Buzz Free API.
While public disc golf data provides a great starting point, our goal is to enrich that information with community-driven insights and features that aren't available anywhere else. Our API allows developers, clubs, and community organizers to access and build on data that is unique to the DiscGolf.Buzz ecosystem.
As our platform grows, the API will continue to evolve with additional endpoints and community-focused functionality designed to support the sport at every level.
Volunteer Signups for Work Days and Events
Healthy courses don't maintain themselves—they rely on dedicated volunteers.
To help connect willing helpers with local opportunities, we've added a new volunteer participation system. Community members can now submit themselves as volunteers for course work days, cleanup efforts, maintenance projects, tournaments, and other events.
Course organizers gain a simple way to identify interested volunteers, while community members can more easily find opportunities to give back to the courses they love.
This feature helps strengthen local disc golf communities by making volunteer coordination easier and more accessible.
Community-Powered Course Submissions
Disc golf continues to grow rapidly, and new courses are appearing all the time. To keep our directory current, we've introduced community course submissions.
Users can now submit courses directly to DiscGolf.Buzz for inclusion in our directory. Rather than publishing submissions immediately, each new course enters a moderation "honeypot" review queue where our team can verify the information before it becomes publicly available.
This approval process helps us:
- Reduce spam submissions
- Prevent duplicate course listings
- Verify course information
- Maintain overall directory quality
- Ensure a better experience for everyone using the platform
By combining community contributions with moderation, we can continue expanding our course database while preserving the accuracy and reliability of the information we provide.
What's Next?
These updates represent another step toward our vision of making DiscGolf.Buzz more than just a website. We're building a platform where players can discover courses, organizers can coordinate events, volunteers can support their local communities, and developers can build new experiences using open data.
We're excited about what's ahead and look forward to continuing to grow alongside the disc golf community.
If you'd like to explore the new course directory, submit a course, volunteer for an upcoming project, or experiment with our API, now is the perfect time to get involved.
The future of disc golf is community-driven, and we're proud to be building tools that help make that possible.
