Uplay Disc Golf Empowers Communities through Disc Sports Clinics

As we reflect on our recent trip to Guatemala, it's clear that our efforts to bring disc golf to local communities have been a resounding success. Our Community Impact Report highlights the numbers behind this achievement: hundreds of children, teachers, and community members came together to volunteer, learn, and teach.

One of the standout features of our training program was the collaboration with Raul Barcelo, who brought with him a team of experienced volunteers. Diego Perez and Brandon Mendez joined us from the US, bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to the table. Together, we delivered hands-on coaching and feedback that made a tangible difference in the lives of our students.

The Monte Maria Open was another highlight of our trip, featuring a unique "Cali-shuffle" format that allowed newer players to shine alongside experienced competitors. This innovative approach ensured that every player had a chance to navigate the course with confidence, making for an exciting and inclusive tournament experience.

Personally, I was thrilled to play with some of our newest female participants, including Cindy from Santa Maria de Jesus, who had only taken up disc golf just one month prior. Her enthusiasm and dedication were inspiring, as she shared her story of how disc golf has become a regular part of her exercise routine and connection with nature.

Another standout player was Pam Abreau, a local Golf Pro from Guatemala City, who had discovered disc golf just three months ago. She has since become a regular at the Monte Maria course, driving long distances to play and set her sights on competing as a Female Pro in the future.

These stories only scratch the surface of the incredible impact we're making through our disc sports clinics. We're planning to share more highlights from this trip soon, including a special post-produced round coverage of the 2nd round top card MPO. This will give you a chance to experience firsthand the excitement and camaraderie that's building around disc golf in these communities.

We're grateful for your support and look forward to continuing our mission of empowering children, teachers, and community members through disc sports clinics.
