The search for a new home for the PDGA Champions Cup is over, and it's west coast bound. After some deliberation, the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) has decided to relocate the event from its traditional home at the International Disc Golf Center in Appling, Georgia to Swenson Park Disc Golf Course in Stockton, California.

The 2025 PDGA Champions Cup will take place on the elite-level track that also hosts the OTB Open, a popular event on the Disc Golf Pro Tour. The tournament is scheduled to run from May 1st to May 4th, 2025, giving players and spectators plenty of time to plan their trip.

According to PDGA Executive Director Doug Bjerkaas, the decision to move the event was not made lightly. "It's critically important that when the Champions Cup returns to the IDGC, it's played on a course that's truly elite," he explained. "We take pride in this event and wanted to make sure we were giving our players the best possible experience."

To ensure a smooth transition, Sean Jack and Shawn Mercy will be serving as co-tournament directors for the 2025 PDGA Champions Cup. Both men have extensive experience running Elite Series events, having done so since 2018.

While some fans may be disappointed that the event won't be returning to Georgia, Bjerkaas is quick to point out the benefits of hosting a major on the west coast. "This move enables us to host an MPO/FPO major on the west coast for the first time since 2014 and the first in California since 2011," he said.

In related news, the bidding process for all 2026 PDGA Majors is set to open on June 1st, giving interested parties a chance to bring a major event to their course.
