The 2023 NADGT National Championships presented by Lone Star Disc have reached their midpoint in Austin, Texas. The tournament, which brings together some of the best amateur disc golf players from across the country, has seen a thrilling competition so far. After competing in qualifying tournaments all over the United States, the top amateurs are now battling it out to see who will emerge victorious and potentially take the next step towards becoming a touring professional.

The tournament features 10 different courses, with each division competing on two separate courses throughout the event. The city of Austin, which ranked eighth in UDisc's Top 10 Disc Golf Cities in the US, provides an ideal setting for the NADGT to showcase its top-notch courses and challenge the strongest players in each field.

In the MA1 division, Corbin Milchesky is currently leading the pack after two rounds. Meanwhile, Samantha Bonacci is at the top of the FA1 division, showcasing her exceptional skills on the course. The competition will continue to heat up as the tournament progresses, with all divisions competing on four complete rounds without any cuts.

A significant change from previous years is that the MA1 and FA1 fields are now occupying the same level of competition within the tournament. This means that these top amateur players will face each other in a more direct and intense battle for the title.

The NADGT National Championships have a history of launching successful careers in disc golf, with several players who have competed in the event going on to achieve great success on the Disc Golf Pro Tour. The competition is expected to be fierce, with all divisions vying for the top spot.

As the tournament reaches its climax, fans can catch live coverage of the final rounds on the Disc Golf Network on Saturday. With temperatures predicted to be mild and sunny skies forecasted, the stage is set for an exciting conclusion to the 2023 NADGT National Championships.

In previous years, the competition has come down to the wire, with thrilling finishes in both the men's and women's divisions. In 2022, Emily Yale led by three strokes going into the final front nine but ultimately lost to Cadence Burge in a playoff. On the MPO side, Zachary Nash dominated the field, shooting 9-under with seven birdies and an eagle to win by six strokes.

As the tournament enters its final stages, all eyes will be on the top players as they battle it out for the coveted title of NADGT National Champion. Will Corbin Milchesky maintain his lead in the MA1 division? Can Samantha Bonacci continue her dominance in the FA1 field? The answers to these questions and more will unfold over the next few days, making the 2023 NADGT National Championships an event not to be missed.

It came down to the wire, and then some, in 2022.

After trading off the lead with Cadence Burge throughout the tournament in the FPO field, Emily Yale led by three strokes going into the final front 9 of the 2022 NADGT National Championships. Yale kept the lead up until Hole 9 where she took multiple attempts to stick the island green. Yale took a quadruple bogey and lost three strokes to Burge, forcing a playoff. The two continued to match strokes for multiple holes until the playoff was finally decided on Hole 5 where Burge took the win.

On the MPO side, Zachary Nash shot the hot round in the semifinals to start the final front 9 with a four-stroke lead. Xaelen Nash, who was tied for second, made a commendable effort on the final front 9 as he shot 7-under in an attempt to close the gap. Zachary never took his foot off the gas and even went for one last birdie on the difficult island green of Hole 9, despite having a six-stroke lead. Ultimately, Zachary shot 9-under with seven birdies and an eagle to win the 2022 NADGT National Championship by six strokes.

With temperatures in the 60s and 70s, it’s looking like sunny skies as different divisions and storylines culminate in the 2023 NADGT National Championships.
