Disc Golf Spreads Joy in China's Special Needs Community

In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship and compassion, two professional disc golfers from Team Prodigy recently brought their expertise to a special needs group in Ningpo, China. Will Schusterick and Dave Greenwell spent time with the Zhongxin Yangguang Yizhan group, who were born with an extra chromosome, which affects various aspects of their lives. Conditions such as Down syndrome and Triple X syndrome are just some of the challenges they face.

Despite these physical limitations, the participants demonstrated remarkable focus and determination as they attempted to throw discs into baskets. The genuine enthusiasm and excitement displayed by each individual, coupled with the encouragement from their teachers, Mrs. Yang and Mr. Chenren from Yikun Discs, created a truly uplifting atmosphere. Whether throwing from a designated spot or taking an extra step towards the basket to ensure success, every effort was met with applause and celebration.

The most striking aspect of this encounter was not just the participants' skills but their unique personalities and characteristics. Each one shone through as they worked together, offering support and encouragement to one another. The joy and love evident on Mrs. Yang's face and Mr. Chenren's expression were testaments to the rewards of volunteering and spreading kindness.

Following this inspiring experience in Ningpo, Team Prodigy has continued their journey northwards to Huanghai National Forest Park in Jiangsu province. There, Greenwell and Schusterick are working tirelessly to design a layout for the upcoming PDGA Tour event, marking a historic milestone in China's disc golf history. Stay tuned for further updates from this groundbreaking visit.

The team has captured some truly special moments during their stay, and they have kindly shared these with us, hoping that they will convey the essence of their experience. Xie xie, or thank you, to all those involved in making this initiative a success!
