Disc Golf Brings Joy and Inclusion to Chinese Community

This week, Team Prodigy's Will Schusterick and Dave Greenwell embarked on an unforgettable journey to Ningpo, China. Their mission was to share the joy and spirit of disc golf with a very special group – the Zhongxin Yangguang Yizhan community, comprised of individuals born with Down syndrome and other chromosomal conditions.

As they arrived in this beautiful coastal city, it became clear that this experience would be far more than just a demonstration of disc golf skills. The participants' enthusiasm and eagerness to learn were palpable, despite the unique challenges they faced. Their instructor, Mrs. Yang, and facilitator Mr. Chenren from Yikun Discs, played an integral role in creating a supportive environment that allowed each individual to shine.

The workshop was a masterclass in adaptability, as Schusterick and Greenwell carefully adapted their teaching methods to accommodate the varying abilities of their students. The result was nothing short of remarkable – the participants' focus and determination were evident on every throw, with cheers and high-fives erupting whenever they successfully landed a disc in the basket.

One of the most striking aspects of this experience was the genuine enthusiasm and camaraderie displayed by both the participants and their instructors. The photographs capturing these moments convey the sense of joy, love, and inclusivity that permeated this extraordinary workshop. This groundbreaking initiative serves as a testament to the transformative power of sports, highlighting the rewards that come from giving selflessly to others.

Following their memorable encounter in Ningpo, Schusterick and Greenwell have traveled to Huanghai National Forest Park in Jiangsu province to design the layout for the first-ever PDGA Tour event in China. As they work tirelessly to bring this historic event to life, we look forward to sharing more updates from this remarkable journey.

The team's visit to China has left an indelible mark on all involved, and it is clear that the impact of their efforts will be felt long after they depart. As Mrs. Yang so aptly put it, "Xie xie!" – a heartfelt expression of gratitude that resonates deeply with everyone who has been touched by this incredible experience.
