For most of the season in the club mix division, the name on everyone's mind has been Ann Arbor Hybrid. The reigning champs have a stacked roster and won both the US Open and Pro Champs. An early summer fumble at PEC East is the only black mark on their record and they will be the unquestioned favorite as play opens in San Diego. The list of challengers, however, is long. Five different teams have landed at number two in our eight sets of power rankings. New York Exist is the second seed and one of the two teams to beat Hybrid this year and after not having Jolie Krebs at nationals last year brings both her and Satie Jazerki to the fray this time. 2023 champions Fort Colin Shame have much of their title winning core. Minneapolis Dragon Thrust has one of the division's most successful programs and has given hybrid strong competition when they've taken the field together with a group of young players like Shagal Gelfin and the Sulflow twins taking over the Midwest mantle. It isn't hard to tell the right story about many of the teams in the field. Sacramento Tower, led by experienced Giant Slayer Robin Fenick, took down the vaunted Southwest Regional title. Durham Toro has had their best regular season ever and dominated at Southeast Regionals. Austin Disco Club has some incredible playmakers to turn to. Or perhaps Boston Sprocket can make another deep run behind Tanner Johnson Going Company. Can the mix division bring the chaos that has become a signature? Hybrid looks undeniable, but this division has taught us to expect the unexpected.
