The D1 men's division generated fervent conversation even before first pull with an intense debate about who should be number one to start 2025. Oregon's up and cominging squad of fiery young talent or the established championship presence of UNC. But it didn't take long for challengers to assert themselves. Cal Poly Slow took down Santa Barbara Invite and Carlton won Florida warm-up over UMass. While UNCC suffered a surprising early season upset to Georgia Tech, North Carolina bounced back and Oregon played well, the duo winning all three of the next big events. Oregon conquered Pres. UNCC claimed Queen City tuneup and at the first tournament with both in attendance. UNC won Smoky Mountain Invite even without star Ben Damarind. But the regular season concluded with a new challenger emerging, Tobias Brooks's Colorado Mama Bird. They came back in semi-finals at Easterns to overcome UNCC and then beat UMass in the final with Oregon also dropping in the semi-final round. So favorite status at nationals is as of yet undecided. UMass has been consistent throughout the season. UNCC has big wins and championship pedigree and both Colorado and Oregon are high-flying with young stars at the helm. Carlton and Slow have also shown they could take down the division's best. with no front runner. Buckle up for the proving ground of nationals.
