A windy East Coast Invite finals in the women's division, Pennsylvania Venus taking on the Northeastern Valkyries in a battle of two Ultiworld power ranked teams in the semifinals. Venus won by one on universe over Wisconsin Belladonna, while the Valkyries defeated the Georgetown Huck and Foyas by four. Sonya Lee gets the block for Northeastern and wastes no time finding Jess Montgomery for the first hold of the game. First offensive point for Penn and we see Grace Maruna, 2025 second team All-American, throwing dots as she floats out this inside flick to Poppy Wagner. The Valkyries offensive line showing their defensive chops again. Make that another one for Lee. Her throw pops up, but Jess Montgomery up to the task with a two-hand dunk and then shows composure to throw the assist to Lily Yan. Give the fans a clean hold. Penn works it all the way down through this Northeastern zone to tie things up. Sydney Neel to Abby Smith. [screaming] This point lasts over 10 minutes as Emma Remi and goals for a big throw, but the wind carries it away. Venus goes the full 70 and it's a break. Maruna finds an open Wagner who catches the defense sleeping. Kiki Mauer sticks out the right hand for the Valkyries and they take advantage of the short field. Remi and with a nifty backhand pop pass to Alice Crawford Muscat. Northeastern stays in their zone right into the end zone, but it's no problem for Penn as Maruna and Neel do a little give and go and they're going to go two half up by three. Out of the break, Venus gets a hold and then they take advantage of the wind affecting this Remi and throw. Red zone chance, they don't let it go to waste as Wagner shakes her defender to earn her third goal of the game. The Pennsylvania break train keeps rolling. They score their third straight break and fifth unanswered goal as Neel slices the zone with a lefty backhand and has made an instant impact for UPenn this season. >> [cheering] >> Who else would end this game but Grace Maruna? Her sixth assist gives Venus the win as they take down the Valkyries 10 to 3.
