my name is Ellen Jacobus and I play first as a G ultimate which is from Carleton College I think that this year has been a really really special iteration of syzygy in terms of our approach to play and our approach to time together I think that like graduating a large senior class it can be really challenging but is also like an amazing opportunity for growth and like an amazing opportunity to like make the team in new ways there were only three of us seniors and I think that really allowed a lot of underclassmen to feel really comfortable and I think that's amazing in terms of shaping team culture and making everybody feel a part of it especially this year we had quite a few players who'd played significant ultimate before coming to Carleton I wouldn't say that we ever recruit players it's more that they hear about Carleton as being a really strong school for ultimate and they're interested in going to Carleton for a really great undergrad experience at a liberal arts college we do kind of actively try to get some other recruits from other sports departments at Carleton or individuals who've played a lot of sports in their past and how to necessarily played ultimate and that's always great to have a balance of those who played for a really long time and those who haven't and they can all kind of teach each other about different athletic the capabilities on the fields so Gigi has been really informative for me and my time at Carleton definitely like as a player developing as a cutter stepping into like bigger roles in that way I think building confidence as well confidence on the field that also translates to being off of the field in terms of like Who I am and roles and spaces that I can take up and I think that's like confidence to do what you think is the right thing in a moment kind of regardless if you have affirmation from people around you like I think that's like on the field as a senior cutter being decisive about where you want to go and in some ways that like translates to in my life choosing to be decisive about things whether or not you're positive it's the right thing in the moment like there are things I need...
