DRAMA From Memorial Disc Golf Championship
The Memorial Disc Golf Championship is back and drama-filled! Jefferson recaps the first major event of the 2026 professional season, where the pros took to the course at Fountain Hills, with its new layout paired with Red Mountain instead of Vista Del Camino. The field was weaker than expected, with top players like Isaki, Bella, and Aderhold missing the competition. Despite this, the drama unfolded as Aaron Gossich struggled with his new discs and Ganon Burr continued to defend his title. Jefferson also touches on the controversy surrounding the course's design, which some fans have been critical of, but assures that changes will be made next year. With 150 additional trees planned for the course, Jefferson hopes this will address concerns about wide-open shots. The video features behind-the-scenes insights and commentary from pro players, including a shout-out to Matt Slaybach's live streaming efforts, which reached an engaged audience of over 90 fans.

Welcome to the disc golf world, the fastest way to watch the Memorial Championship. Well, unless you're friends with Matt Slaybach on Facebook, that is. What's up, degenerates? I'm Jefferson here to recap the first big event of the 2026 professional season, which of course means the drama is back. And I know you've missed it. I'm not Swiss, so there's no minute long self-glazing rant here, but if you don't mind dropping a like and subscribing, that way you can stay up to date on all things disc golf. The memorial has been a staple on the pro scene for as long as I've been alive. This is the 39th rendition, meaning this tournament has been going on since 1987, kicking it before the tribe could even ask, which is why it was super weird to hear coverage was going to be delayed for an entire week. At first, I thought it was just a joke, but after the 15th Facebook post asking and an impromptu Terry Miller video blog, I knew something strange was happening. Then you got the pros complaining about the new course. That's the ones who are actually competing because some are saying this is the weakest field the memorial has seen in years. No Isaki, Bella or Aderhold. But that didn't stop the content. Aaron Gossich had no excuse though. His discs are new enough to take a beating and there was still the number one disc offer in the world and threetime defending champ Ganon Burr playing. even if we all know it's only to take advantage of those inflated ratings Fountain Hills always provides. However, this year paired with Red Mountain instead of Vista Del Camino since that course is currently getting a renovation. If you're one of the many that hated the Rocky course, don't worry. Next year things will be back to normal. At least that's the plan. Plus the 150 additional trees that will be planted. Hopefully that'll put a stop to the comments about the wideopen 200 ft shots. I got to give a huge shout out to Mr. Schlaybach for live streaming the rounds to all 90 of us who couldn't wait a whole week to stop the pro disc golf itch. Also, this way it feels like a legit pro tour event, you know, because it's blurry. I'm curious to see how the post coverage is...
