how did a kid in Germany get into dis golf good question pretty simple answer my dad my dad is Canadian mom's German I grew up with two brothers in Germany both not very interested in disl at all until recently but I was hooked what started as just throwing discs around the backyard or playing catch with my dad slowly but surely turned into something special I started playing competitively in 2004 I believe at 11 years old there wasn't really a disl scene in Germany and I mean nothing to what we're so used to nowadays I was quite the hippie kid looking at the pictures I never really felt like one but I guess that's not the point the Disc Golf Scene in Germany back then was about 5 to seven tournaments a year with about 50 active players we were a family all my best friends to this day were a lot older than I was less than a handful of kids in Germany had even heard of this sport I didn't care at all I thought it was the coolest thing in the world travel for a weekend and playing a tournament was by far my favorite thing to do even if it only happened three times a year I guess that made it even more special we always had to travel to play a real course having a permanent home course was just a dream but I made it work designed my own courses on parking lots and fields around the neighborhood no baskets light post trash cans trees or anything that would make a cool sound would be my basket I I remember playing every chance I got I went to the field every day to throw as many drives as my body could handle an 11-year-old body can handle a lot of throwing I especially remember that I never practiced for the sake of practicing I didn't care to get better or that wasn't the goal of my fieldwork or countless hours of putting in the backyard it was what I love to do for fun I didn't even realized that was a possible career since there wasn't any money involved at all for tournaments that I knew of entrance fee was 30 bucks and free lunch came with it it was quite the different world I lived in fast forward a...
