Disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. And the best part, anyone can play. Disc golf is played by throwing a disc from a designated tea area toward a target basket, counting each throw until the disc comes to rest in the chains with the lowest total score winning. All you need to play is a disc and a basket. Today, we're covering the essential skills you need to actually enjoy the sport. Putting, backhand, forehand, angles, and general strategy. Putting is the controlled throw used to land the disc in the basket, usually from within 10 m, which we call inside the circle. Success here depends on accuracy and consistency rather than power. There are two main putting styles. A spin putt uses wrist action to spin the disc, keeping it flat and stable. Good for longer putts or windy conditions. Almost like skipping a rock on the water. This throw is very useful for curving around trees or getting out of tough spots. Just like backhand, there are a few grip styles to try out. Choose the one that has the disc releasing cleanly from your hand and have fun shaping shots. Angles. The angle at which you release a disc has a huge effect on how it flies. Changing the tilt of the disc, called the release angle, lets you control direction, distance, and how the disc interacts with the wind. The three main...
