yeah I see a lot of connections from when I first started disc golf to what I'm seeing here now there's a local kid here Wilson that plays 18 holes randomly throughout the day and just when he has free time he's just out here playing disc golf and that's kind of how I started and how I felt is just something I do on my own enjoy it and also learn at the same time without anyone telling me what to do or kind of teaching me it's just incredible to see that they're they're catching on real quick and they're just enjoying it they're just enjoying seeing the flight just something new and hopefully something that sticks with a lot of them hi my name is Chris I'm from Savannah Georgia originally and I came to Guatemala a little over 10 years ago starting out with doing motorcycle tours and now I've kind of adapted into Adventure Tours in general one of the unique things about the area that we're in is we're surrounded by volcanoes Guatemala has 37 volcanoes three are active and so when you're playing this course you're going to have a view of four different volcanoes at once so around us we have Volcan de pakaya we're at the base of agua the course is actually on volkonda Iowa which is a dormant volcano and then out closer to Antigua we have Volcan de Fuego which is super active at night you can see lava it's incredible and then akatenengo is next to that which is the third highest peak in Central America so we're here right now in Monte Maria golf course this is a golf course that was built about 20 years ago not a lot of people play here but during the pandemic my buddy Mike and I started coming up here and we thought you know hey maybe this is somewhere where we could actually throw our disc golf discs there's not a lot of open Green Space here and so that's how we started thinking about the idea to play here we started with just an object course you know just choosing trees and going there and then eventually decided to build a basket our little DIY basket affectionately called the trash basket it's literally a trash can lid with a bicycle rim and a jumble of chains we...
