2026 MVP Open X OTB | FPO R1B9 | Scoggins, Saarinen, Handley, Gannon, Handley | Jomez Disc Golf
The 2026 MVP Open presented by OTB returns to the challenging winds of Maple Hill for Round 1B9. Hosts Ericka Stinchcom and Addison Walker provide a detailed breakdown of the back nine, highlighting the difficult conditions that test even the most seasoned professionals. The segment focuses on top contenders Owens Coggins and Holland Hanley, who are tied for third at one under par as they navigate the rugged terrain. A significant portion of the analysis covers Hole 10, a par-three castle hole measuring 276 feet. The hosts discuss the strategic implications of the recent teepad relocation, noting how the right-to-left crosswind and consistent headwind make distance control critical. They emphasize the importance of choosing stable discs to maintain trajectory in the blustery weather, as power alone is insufficient to reach the pin area. Furthermore, the commentary explores the specific hazards of the castle wall, explaining how shots landing too close can hinder putting opportunities due to the lack of angle. With statistics indicating that only a handful of players consistently reach the first circle in regulation, the episode offers valuable insights into course management and disc selection for disc golf enthusiasts facing similar windy conditions at Maple Hill.

Hello and welcome to the back nine of round one of our FPO feature card of the 2026 MVP Open presented by OTB. We're back at Maple Hill. I'm Erikica Stinchcom. >> I'm Addison Walker. We're your two hockeys, hunk. We love it out here even in the blustery conditions. >> Sorry. >> Uh I lost my train of thought. Uh Owens Coggins and Holland Hanley both one down which is good enough for a tie for third. There's only a handful of ladies under par out here in these difficult and windy conditions and it's only going to get tougher. >> Yeah, agreed. Hole 10, the castle hole uphill. Par three, 276 ft. We moved to this tapad, I don't know, a year or two ago. They all blend together. Kind of a straight shot. It was mostly a right to left crosswind when I came through, but you never quite know out here. Uh, got to be careful, especially of these right side trees. They really like to tangle you up and it can be very difficult to get out. If you find the circle, but you're kind of straight on to the castle wall, it can be really difficult putting. You also don't want to be too close to the wall because you see a like a you can't really get a putting stroke up and over. Takes a lot of power to cover this 276 ft. There's that right to left wind. Pretty consistent. Occasionally headwind. It was absolutely ripping right here. just insane. Uh even if someone did manage to get off a good powerful shot, you saw a lot of this own really great job with a stable disc to get all the way up the hill. >> It's crazy though. That's like edge of circle 2 with a super powerful shot. >> Yeah. Um this is one that we've kind of called for them to change it back to the other teapad. I'm not sure why we're over here. Not not sure the reasoning, but the stats say that only three players get to circle one in regulation and only 10 to circle two. It's a little higher than I was expecting. Holland's going to have that tricky castle putt. >> Missy somewhere in circle two land. Yeah, you see this so often. >> And that's a great drive from Own >> up...
