2024 MVP Open | FPO R1B9 | Handley, Scoggins, Gannon, Tattar | Jomez Disc Golf
The 2024 MVP Open is presented by OTB Discs and features an exciting back nine of Round One at Maple Hill. Erica Stinko and Madison Walker provide insightful commentary on the challenging course conditions, including the impact of rain, wind, and mist on the players' strategies. They discuss the merits of playing aggressively on the front nine versus maintaining a solid score on the back nine. The duo also highlights the significant changes made to the course, particularly the uphill par-three 10th hole, which now requires a more direct shot due to a changed tee box location and surrounding trees. The discussion touches on the lead positions, with Anakin Sten and Natalie Ryan tied at three under par, and how these changes might affect the overall scoring. The commentary also mentions power players like Ella, who will need to harness their skills to navigate the treacherous terrain of Maple Hill.

hello and welcome to the back nine of round one of the fo feature card at the 2024 MVP open presented by OTB discs we're at beautiful Maple Hill I'm Erica stinko I'm Madison Walker where your two hock Keys honk little bit of rain little bit of wind little bit of mist out there uh some tough ground conditions there have been quite a few birdies on the front despite all of that you think there's more on the back less what do we think I think there's more on the front I think you want to stack them up on the front and then maintain in the back yep uh but Maple Hill's pretty punishing all around yeah it sure is it's a rough finishing a couple finishing holes so we have some changes as we move into the back nine as well that I think made it play a little tougher yeah Anakin Sten and Natalie Ryan tied for the lead at three down right now last year the best score we saw across four rounds was seven down and I think it's probably playing what two strokes harder maybe with the changes roughly I think that's about right ho 10 is an uphill par three uh sneaky change we used to go from the left have to shoot a gap uh kind of over a wall now we're to the right and it tricks you into thinking it's easier but it is very hard to get there it's a very straight shot you can't really work the flex or the Hiser angle at all because of the trees on the right then you got to get up and over the castle wall and put it in most good shots from the middle of the field is land are landing in circle 2 obviously our power players are going to have a little bit better look at it but I don't know just having to go straight instead of working a righty kind of flexing shot takes a little distance off yeah I feel like I had no problem getting to a getting a putt uh last year from the teapad and this year I can't even get through these Christmas trees well I think that you have to do what Natalie did which takes an exceedingly amazing amount of power to go up and over those...
