Day 17: Wrong Disc Challenge | Gatekeeper Media's New Year's Resolutions

Gatekeeper Media's New Year's Resolutions presents a unique and engaging challenge to test your skills and strategy on the course. In their 17th installment, the team attempts the "Wrong Disc Challenge," where they play around with their entire bag, throwing the wrong disc - one that matches the speed of their usual throw, but limits their control and accuracy. Inspired by Sedgley Woods, the team puts their skills to the test on Hole 19, where a normally flippy fairway driver is replaced with an overstable Raptor. This forces them to use the entire fairway and carefully judge their angle of attack. Additionally, they explore the importance of course design and management, as seen in Hole 20's narrow gap and severely left-biased basket. With guidance from experienced players, the team aims to broaden their shot diversity and master each disc in their bag. By understanding how discs interact with speed, angles, and spin, viewers can improve their own game and unlock new possibilities on the course.

Watch Gatekeeper course pros tackle the challenge with wrong discs in Day 17: Wrong Disc Challenge. Hilarious gameplay from [Player 1] and [Player 2].

welcome back to gatekeeper media's new year's resolutions it's january 17th and today we're going to have kind of a fun and silly round go to your home course or somewhere that you know well and the idea here is you're going to play around with your entire bag but instead of throwing the disc you would normally throw you're going to throw the wrong disc of about the same speed the idea here is when you get pinned into this disc does this action you're kind of limiting yourself artificially so on this example i have hole 19 at sedgley woods ordinarily i would throw probably a fairway driver that's flippy so that it can get over late instead i'm going to throw a raptor which is pretty overstable this is going to make me have to use the entire fairway and really test this first tree as well as hit the right angle with the disc my idea here is if i test what my abilities are with every disc in my bag then i will have a broader diversity of shots that i can use on the course for scrambles or for you know windy in other situations so now on hole 20 we have a pretty narrow gap and the basket is very severely left shortly after that ordinarily i would throw something overstable maybe like a wasp or a buzz os today i'm going to try to throw a comment really really steep and this gets to something that is really critical in like course design and course management sometimes what an apparent shot is might be more complex than you think this understable disc if i throw it on the right hyzer it'll have a tendency to carry more left than something that wants to fade the entire time because of its stability if you talk to some old guys sometimes they'll tell you about when a stingray was the distance driver of choice and now everybody thinks of that as something that's almost unusable because of how slow and flippy it is don't let your mind limit what a disc can do you win the game when you understand how each of your discs in your bag act at various speeds angles spins whatever other disc flying property you can apply to it
