hello and welcome disc golf fans to the front nine coverage of round one of the 2021 preserve championship presented by prodigy disc i'm brian earhart joined here by nate perkins here we are back at the beautiful preserve airborne disc golf preserve in clearwater minnesota it is such a beautiful beautiful track that we're at here it really is we are about an hour northwest of minneapolis we're on an old golf course right on the shores of the mississippi river the river actually the headwaters of one of the biggest rivers in the world is just a couple hours north of where we're at in clearwater so it's a really special nook of the world and as you saw we have a phenomenal starting card we have paul macbeth calvin heinberg thomas gilbert and ryan sheldon if you have not seen ryan sheldon throw a disc you are in for a treat 80 plus mile an hour sidearms hole number one 708 feet pretty straightforward hole we have ob on the left side shoot your drive as far as you can straight and then shoot over the water from huntington beach california paul macbeth and we saw last year this course is a playground for these players a lot of low scores here but kale leviska even admitted he kind of likes that as a mix-up on tour so the day before the event you wake up about eight o'clock in the morning i walk outside and i see a pretty dense fog rising up from the field and madison walker walks up to me and says that's smoke yeah we had one of the craziest smoke days that i've ever seen the air quality here at the preserve was 450 on the aqi index at one point yeah the tournament almost got cancelled as we see calvin's drive moving down the fairway into a nice spot thomas gilbert yeah the tournament almost got called off some of the most dangerous air quality in the united states was in this area due to some wildfires in canada but luckily it cleared up this morning some players were still wearing n95 masks and this is just a nice so far yeah this is a nice opening tee shot just throw it far and straight they teed off in the morning so they had pretty calm conditions from maplewood minnesota...
