welcome to the nick and matt show bringing the player interviews you want to hear and the hot topics you want to discuss streaming live on the foundation podcast youtube channel here's nick and matt uh let's go ahead and bring him in and find out a little bit about him uh how is it going james and uh where are you calling us from hey guys thanks for having me on the show uh it's going good i'm calling you from up in seattle washington is this where you're living is this the hometown for you yeah i was born and raised two hours north of where daylight is um and then in january of this year i moved up to seattle to live with my girlfriend who's going up here for grad school nice and are you so i mean we'll obviously get into this in the interview but do you work another job or you focus solely on disc golf at the moment i do i teach special education so wow it's very cool yeah very cool you probably already learning new things i love it yeah you probably get the wow often when someone says that um what does it take what does it take and i guess how do i say this because i want you to brag on yourself but that's hard to do what does it take to be a special education teacher um i think you know you just have to want to be there for the kids there's a lot of kind of politics that comes with education and and obviously they can you know all kids can be frustrating at times so i originally i went to school to teach high school math and then during my undergrad i found special education and students with disabilities and i just the work meant so much more to me making connections with those kids and and uh so i just you know i was really drawn to to that side and that specific group of students and uh it's part of the reason why i'm not on tour full-time is because i just love doing what i do so much so that's awesome incredible because you're obviously an incredibly gifted disc golfer as well as probably a very incredibly gifted teacher and so it's really cool where you're able to dedicate so...
